Suite Provides Scanning, Archiving, Encryption, and Mobile Forwarding

Privacy Networks' flagship offering is the E-mail Integrity Suite (EIS), and the individual components offered within it. The vendor bills the suite as a complete E-mail lifecycle compliance and protection platform; with modules available for the archiving, scanning (anti-virus and anti-spam), encryption, and forwarding (to mobile devices) of E-mail messages. The platform is delivered as stand alone software or as a hosted offering from the vendor.

Individual components currently offered in the suite include PrivacyPost, PrivacyVault, PrivacyLock, PrivacyImport, and PrivacyMobile. Most are also available as standalone offerings; and of course all can be utilized as an integrated suite.

PrivacyPost is the anti-spam and anti-virus protection component of the platform, and, according to the vendor, is compatible with multiple MTAs and interfaces with E-mail clients including Outlook, Mozilla, Eudora and Lotus Notes. PrivacyPost utilizes heuristics and statistical Bayesian-type algorithms for threat detections, with spam detection and administration applicable at the server, company, domain, user and sender levels. Additionally, an Offensive Word List can be used to filter E-mail with specific language. Suspicious E-mails are quarantined; a Web-based management interface is available to both users and admins.

PrivacyVault is the archiving component of the platform, allowing for the automated collection of E-mail messages and their attachments into an indexed, categorized, central repository. Archived E-mail can additionally be compressed, with messages and their attachments stored in their original formats. Other features include a tiered permission system to control archive access, a Web based search engine facilitating retrieval of archived E-mails, and presentation of messages via threaded links.

- PrivacyLock is the encryption component of the platform, providing the ability to both encrypt and decrypt messages transparently to the end-user. Both public and private key infrastructures are supported, with keys issued and stored in a central repository that is controlled by the customer.

- PrivacyMobile is a module that works with PrivacyPost to enable the filtered forwarding of messages to mobile devices. According to the vendor, PrivacyMobile works with cell phones, PDAs, pagers and BlackBerry units; and a copy of forwarded messages can also be delivered to the user's inbox.

- PrivacyImport is the newest module in the suite, and it provides a means to import E-mail stores into an archive database that is accessible through the PrivacyVault search features.

Other new features in the latest release of EIS include a Microsoft Outlook Toolbar plug-in, which incorporates the PrivacyPost anti-spam features directly into the MS Outlook interface; advanced search capabilities in PrivacyVault; and the ability of PrivacyPost to quarantine E-mails with large attachments (Admins can use the Web-based console to specify what type of attachments need to be quarantined).

The E-mail Integrity Suite is available now, with the stand alone software offering priced at under $5,000.
