The AP Intelligent Mail Switch (APIMS) is SMTP perimeter-gateway software providing IT professionals with the ability to prevent the problems caused by E-mail filters, including the blocking of wanted messages; monitor and meter E-mail infrastructure performance; provide real-time dynamic alerts on system and user errors and potential infrastructure failures; and protect E-mail systems from spam attacks, denial-of-service, name harvesting and relay violations.

APIMS allows IT staff to control all external and internal access to the E-mail infrastructure and to route E-mail by the source and user desirability of the E-mail. It processes all incoming E-mail messages prior to delivering mail to E-mail servers or other appliances, and processes all outgoing E-mail allowing the APIMS to learn new behaviors by reacting to the user's E-mail activity. APIMS operates in Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, or Solaris environments.

APIMS employs a hierarchical authentication architecture which allows for "E-mail permission" customization by IT staff. APIMS allows IT staff to assign any level of enterprise capability to users on an individual basis.
