Real-Time File Blocking Software

FileScreen 2000 is a file management program that allows system administrators to control the types of files that may be written to their Windows NT/2000 Servers. The software is targeted towards administrators of large institutions and allows those administrators to block the writing of certain types of files; i.e., MP3, graphics, etc. to their servers.

The program operates in real-time, and targets files of specific types as designated by the administrators themselves. The software comes preconfigured to block "hundreds" of file types, with the user also able to define additional types. File types can be sorted and managed by groups, with updates to file groups available from the vendor's Web site. Administrators may choose to deny the attempt to write a targeted file outright, notify a designated administrator of the attempt, or write the attempt into an event log. Both individual servers and entire networks may be controlled from a single management console.

FileScreen 2000 is available from the vendor's Web site at a price of $195/server. Volume discounts and a free 30 day trial are available.
