Automated Security Scanning and Assessment

The core product offering from Vigilon (formerly known as Moozatech) is the Continual Vigilance Platform; a combination of hardware with pre-loaded software targeted to security administrators and their personell, security consultants, or providers that offer security related services. The Continual Vigilance Platform enables the organization to perform regular, automated security assessments of their network; and also includes the ability to track identified concerns, and workflow-based remediation tools for the correction of the found vulnerabilities. The platform is offered to Enterprise, Government, and Service Provider environments.

The key components of the Continual Vigilance Platform are the Enterprise Assessor and ProAssesor hardware appliances; and the Vigilon365 Software suite, which is pre-loaded on the hardware.

The Enterprise Assessor is a rackable appliance that is installed at the organization's site, behind the corporate firewall. According to the vendor, this appliance boasts a hardware architecture that is optimized for the Vigilon365 software (which it contains) and can scan, audit, and assess any resources on the corporate WAN or visible through the Internet in a predefined address range.

The ProAssesor is a mobile version of the Enterprise Assessor; a laptop computer with the Vigilon356 software targeted to mobile security professionals or consultants. The ProAssessor also includes some modules not on the Enterprise Assessor; including those for wireless detection and scanning, IDS traffic analysis, and advanced reporting and output customization modules.

The core of the product offering is the Vigilon365 software, which provides the actual scanning, identification, tracking, and remediation capabilities of the platform. Vigilon365 leverages a custom threats database in combination with external public databases "...and a wealth of imported XML data" for the identification of network threats.

Vigilon365 features include:

- The ability to identify "Subtle Vulnerabilities," i.e., misconfigurations, human factors, unknown ports

- The ability to verify found vulnerabilities with built-in audits, safe-exploit and penetration tests

- Brute force password checking

- Trojan Horse/Root Kit scanning

- Web site monitoring

- Database activity tracking, including access and usage, data creation, change or deletion.

- Workflow management, for risk remediation (including task assignment, tracking and scheduling)

- User access management to scans and reports

- Support for the importation of FT/IDS logs, change/asset management data and other XML content

- Wizard-based system accessible through a Web page interface

- Automatic updates (exploits, new software, patches, IDS, signatures, and plug-ins)
